El Mestizaje -- The Mixing

Our culture is not locked up in museums, we have also inherited valuable lessons to live well in the present. The heroes and poets born in these lands inspire in us great respect and veneration: geniuses like Athaualpa left us the dream of liberty and the unity of diversity; the tenacity of Eudenio Espejo reminds us that we can never stop learning and fighting; and the unconditional love of liberty found its maximum expression in Manuela Saenz, Gentlewoman of the Son, one of the greatest women of humanity.

Following the example of our selfless children, the entirety of our community holds its collective wisdom as a treasure and as the greatest part of our cultural heritage, which we want to share with the world. Throughout our history, we have become brothers with all of the communities on earth through our demonstrations of sublime humanity. We do this because in some form we are all searching for a way to reach the sun, and, standing on earth, Quito is as close to the sun as you can get.
